Imperial was one of the first American companies to import Japanese Akoya pearls after world war two. This is significant now more than ever due to the relationships that we have developed with the premier Japanese pearl farmers over the past three generations. After each harvest we fly overseas and select the top 3% of pearls, those top quality pearls are what make up our Crown quality. We pride ourselves on the superior quality of all of our Akoya pearl strands. Each and every Akoya strand is hand selected in Kobe Japan by our pearl experts. While selecting these necklaces our experts are equipped with a red colored pencil, any pearl on the strand that does not meet the Imperial quality standard is marked with the pencil and replaced with a pearl of better quality.
